Hotwork patented the accelerated heatup of silica coke ovens in 1990 (US Patent No: 4,921,579). Prior to that time, new or repaired ovens were typically heated over 60 days. The Hotwork method allowed new coke oven flue walls to be heated in five days allowing 55 additional days of production from each oven. Since that time, Hotwork has successfully heated hundreds of coke ovens around the world using this accelerated schedule. Over time, Hotwork has continued to improve the process and has developed equipment specifically for coke oven projects. In addition to heating new or repaired walls, Hotwork can provide regenerator hold hot service and the heatup of cast-in-place or monolithic block coke oven walls. Hotwork’s specialized equipment can utilize the limited space in the alley under the bench and the area between the buckstays in order to heatup repaired walls with minimal impact to ongoing operations.
